Frequently asked questions.
My child is 12 and has never danced before, can they still start? Will they be with younger dancers?
Anyone can start dance and/or music at any age. At The Studio all students are group by age and ability (with the exception of Acro, this is based solely on ability). We recommend reading through our Class Descriptions to see what seems like the best fit for your family. If you have any questions it’s best to call the studio. Our office staff will gladly help you in choosing the right classes for your child.
Does my child need to audition before taking class?
Not for recreational classes, no. Based on a discussion with you and your child we will place your child in the best class possible. We are open to students trying different classes until they find the right fit. The only programs that require auditions are the Studio Intensive Program for dancers 7-18 and our Part-Time Competitive/Enhanced Training Team.
Am I allowed to watch my child?
Parents can view classes by watching the split screen monitor in our waiting area. We also have family observation week to allow parents into the classes to support and encourage their children.
Do you have an end of year show?
Yes, we have many performance opportunities at The Studio. We have a mid-year dance recital for our ballet students (ages 6+ with our competitive program dancers). At the end of our season in late May/early June we have our Year End Show l with all dance students ages 3 to adult (not including ballet ages 6+). Music students have two opportunities to perform “in house”. We offer a Christmas Jam and a Year End Music performance mid-June.
