Teamwork. Confidence. Commitment. Passion.

About the Studio Intensive Program (SIP).

  • What is it?

SIP allows dancers to take their training to the next level. Within the program dancers may choose to compete in addition to training in a minimum of 6 hours of technique classes per week. Weekly classes include 2 Ballet, 1 Jazz, 1 Lyrical/Contemporary, your choice of Conditioning and/or Acro, and choice of Tap and/or Hip Hop. Intensive Dancers attend classes a minimum of 2 days per week with additional rehearsals for learning competitive choreography. Dancers train to be all-round dancers but may not compete in every style they take.

  • Choreography & Rehearsals

Competitive choreography is cast by the instructors and choreographers within the program. Families can set a limit of dances their child may participate to help make it affordable to the individual family. Intensive Dancers should expect to participate in weekend rehearsals and/or classes. Competitive choreography is performed in our Showcases as well as at 3 to 4 competitions in the GTA each Spring.

  • Is this for me?

This is a very dedicated program, and not for everyone as it requires almost perfect attendance year-round and improvement must be shown on a weekly basis. Dancers who are looking to challenge themselves, have a passion for dance and a love of learning will greatly enjoy this program. We are not focused on “trophies” but rather creating self-confident humans with excellent time management who also happen to be well-rounded dancers. Our program encourages personal bests and working together as a cohesive group. We recommend dancers be a minimum of 7 years of age when entering the program with at least 2 years dance experience.

  • Do I have to be good at everything?

A dancer does not have to excel in every area of dance. However, they must be proficient in most styles and have above average skills in at least one discipline. Younger dancers do not have years of training behind them, so instructors look at ability and potential based on flexibility, strength, retention, effort and maturity. There are various levels in SIP ranging from dancers new to SIP and/or displaying great potential, as well as dancers ready to jump in at a more challenging level. Dancers must be open to learning new styles of dance and accept and apply corrections immediately.
