Wearing the proper clothes in class is just as important as it is on stage. Our dress code aims to ensure proper mobility, safety, evaluation of technique and respect towards the dance style being practiced.

Please review our dress code below.

Since many of our dance students have classes one after the other, it is acceptable to wear the same attire for these classes,
changing/removing shoes depending on style of class. (Ex. If going from Ballet to Jazz, changing tights is not required)

ALL DANCE LESSONS

  • Hair should always be secured away from the face

  • Refrain from wearing jewelry that could get caught in hair or clothing

  • No outdoor shoes permitted

  • Please refrain from wearing past dance costumes to class

BALLET

Hair:

  • Ages 3-5: Ponytail or ballet bun

  • Ages 6+: Ballet bun

  • For best results, secure bun with bun/bobby pins and a hairnet

Attire Option 1:

  • Black leotard/bodysuit (any style)

  • Pink ballet tights

  • Pink ballet shoes - leather, canvas, full sole, 1/2 sole are all acceptable

  • Ballet sweater acceptable

Attire Option 2:

  • Black shorts

  • White t-shirt

  • Black ballet shoes - leather, canvas, full sole, 1/2 sole are all acceptable

  • Form fitting / ballet sweater acceptable

Adult Ballet: Form-fitting activewear acceptable (with ballet shoes), hair secured back

JAZZ & TAP

Preferred Attire:

  • Leggings

  • Skintone or black dance tights

  • Dance shorts or loose shorts

  • Leotard/bodysuit

  • Dance pants (tight to the knee)

  • Form fitting shirt, dance top, crop top

Shoes:

Tap: Black tap shoes. Buckle and tie-up styles both acceptable

Jazz: Black jazz shoes

LYRICAL & CONTEMPORARY

Preferred Attire:

  • Leggings

  • Convertible/footless skintone or black dance tights

  • Dance shorts or loose shorts

  • Leotard/bodysuit

  • Dance pants (tight to the knee)

  • Form fitting shirt, dance top, crop top

Shoes:

  • Bare feet

  • Dance Paws or FootUndeez

HIP HOP

No jeans or outdoor shoes (white sole, non-marking runners preferred).
The rest is open to your style. Suggestions include:

  • Loose fitting pants (no jeans)

  • Loose/baggy t-shirt/hoodie

  • Leggings

  • Street/running shoes

  • Dance shorts or loose shorts

Shoes:

  • Street/running shoes

  • Ensure they are secure to your feet to avoid injury

ACRO

Form-fitting attire is a requirement for this style:

  • Gymnastics bodysuits or dance leotards

  • Tight fitting dance shorts

  • Dance tops

  • Convertible/footless dance tights

  • Leggings

Shoes:

  • Bare feet only

MUSIC THEATRE

  • Any comfortable clothing that you can move in unrestricted

  • Clean, indoor running shoes (preferably white soles, non-marking) or jazz shoes
